Federal Bureau of Prisons - FBOP
To work as a
corrections officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons you must have a four year degree or 3 years of work experience in a related
field. You should follow the Criminal Justice transfer guide for the four year school of your choice. See an advisor for the most current transfer guides or visit the advising webpage.
If you are undecided which four year school you want to attend, then you should follow the Associate in Criminal Justice degree program. This degree meets the transfer agreement of the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers Association of College Registrars (MACRAO) and has the most transferability of any of our Criminal Justice degrees. Other Federal Bureau of Prisons requirements include:

- A background investigation to determine suitability for employment
- United States citizenship
- A physical exam including a drug screen
